Edited by Eva Schmidt, MGKSiegen and José Lebrero Stals, Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporàneo, Sevilla
Texts by Peter Reeh, Stefanie Scheit-Koppitz and Eva Schmidt
Revolver Publishing, Berlin

Since the second half of the 20th century, with the progressive development of the audiovisual media, creative mutual inspiration in the dialogue between dance and visual art has been established. Dancers and artists of the American avant-garde ask for the traditional relationship between music and body. They look for a new relationship with the audience and make the process itself a work of art.

With around 100 artistic works, documentary texts and film stills, as well as colored illustrations of video and sculptural installations, the catalog looks at the history of mutual references, similarities and collaborations. In individual texts, works by i.a. John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, Jasper Johns, Nam June Paik, Robert Morris, Yvonne Rainer, Bruce Nauman, Erwin Wurm, Dan Graham and Rebecca Horn.
